Challenges Encountered in Teaching Industrial Arts in the New Normal

Abstract:

The study aimed to determine the extent of the challenges encountered in teaching Industrial Arts in the new normal in public elementary schools in Morong Sub-Office, Division of Rizal during the School Year 2022-2023. It used descriptive method of research utilizing researcher-made questionnaire checklist was used in this study. The respondents of the study were the total population of EPP/TLE Grade six teachers in public elementary schools in Morong Sub-Office, Division of Rizal which consisted of 58 teachers. They will be described in terms of teachers’ age, sex, civil status, position title, educational attainment, length of service, and webinars attended. Based on the findings, it was found out that the teacher-respondents are mostly 41-50 years and above, mostly female, married, with Teacher III position, MAT/MAED graduate, 6-10 years in service and have attended national in-service trainings. In addition, they encountered moderately challenging with respect to individual, instructional and institutional challenges in teaching Industrial Arts in the new normal. More so, there is no significant difference on the extent of the challenges encountered by the teachers in teaching Industrial Arts in the New Normal with respect to individual, instructional and institutional challenges in terms of civil status, educational attainment, length of service, position title and in-service trainings attended. Meanwhile, as to age and sex, there is significant difference on institutional challenges. Furthermore, there is no significant relationship between the extent of the challenges encountered in teaching Industrial Arts in the new normal and the level of pupils’ academic performance.
