Abstract:

The rapid expansion of distance education in recent decades has resulted in the need for versatile online learning environments. However, high attrition rates in online courses suggest a need for improvement in teaching quality. Chickering and Gamson's seven teaching principles were developed to enhance the quality of face-to-face learning, and evidence suggests that these principles can be applied to online teaching as well. This study focused on the distance learning competencies and attitudes of teachers at Lopez National Comprehensive High School. A self- made questionnaire was utilized as an instrument, and ANOVA was employed to determine significant differences in variables. The sample size of 33 was selected from a population of 185 teachers, based on demographic factors such as age, plantilla position, and years in service. The data was collected through online using Google Forms. This study's findings can be used to inform the development of effective distance education programs that align with best practices in teaching.
