Elementary School Teachers' Views about the Critical Pedagogy

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the views of elementary school teachers concerning critical pedagogy. In the survey model study, answers to the given questions were searched. The data of the research were gathered with "Principles of Critical Pedagogy Scale". The study group of the research consists of 198 elementary school teachers. Data were analyzed by utilizing descriptive statistics, t-tests and variance analyses. In addition, we were interested in determining differences in views of elementary school teachers concerning critical pedagogy by sex, education, seniority, and place of school. Data were analyzed by utilizing descriptive statistics, t-tests and variance analyses. According to the findings obtained from the study, the teachers included in the study "moderately" agree with the principles of critical pedagogy. There is a significant difference between their views according to variables such as educational background, professional seniority and the environment of the school where they work, while there is no significant difference between their views according to gender.
