The Development of Online Repositories of Researches for De La Salle Araneta University

Abstract:

The system was developed using software applications such as Joomla 1.5.22, Apache, Mercury, Filezilla, Mysql, PHP, 7-zip and Adobe Photoshop. The authors used the descriptive, creative and library methods together with observation and Internet resources for the research. Other data were subjected to statistical treatment of analysis.

 

It was concluded in the study that the existing system is manually operated. The users need to go to the library and look for theses/dissertations section one by one basis to do their research. The proposed system has a lot of salient features like the search keyword page, news and info page and login phase. The level of performance of the proposed system evaluated by the respondents in terms of efficiency, functionality, reliability and usability were interpreted overall as "Very Good". It means that the system is highly acceptable and usable. The proposed system is to serve as online repositories of researches for De La Salle Araneta University. It is to provide online information for students and teachers who wish to work on their researches. Based on the conducted study, there is a significant difference between the users' and IT professionals' evaluations because IT professionals already know how the system runs, and they also have knowledge regarding computer matters while users are generally not that familiar with such a system and its components.
