Discipline: Electrical Engineering

Abstract:

This study aimed to prevent motor burnout caused by abnormal operating conditions. After assessing the present situation of the cooling tower’s motor control circuit of the company, the researchers identified possible alternative solutions, namely, Alternative 1: installation of conventional motor protection system, Alternative 2: installation of programmable motor protection system, and Alternative 3: installation of variable frequency drive. The electrical maintenance department and the researchers agreed to use the motor electronic protection devices as the main priority to lessen motor burnout.
