Abstract:

This study determined the feasibility of producing a textile from cornhusk fiber, of being profitable and increasing market distinction over other existing textiles produced by manufacturers from other countries. The target market consisted of residents of Tanuan City, Calamba City, and Los Baños while the selected production site was Light Industry and Science Park 2, Barangay Real, Calamba City, Laguna Southern Luzon Expressway, because of its easy access and proximity to the target market. Survey revealed a total demand of 465,671 yards and a supply of 238,530 yards basket carriers, thus, an unsatisfied demand of 227,141 yards basket carriers. The researchers projected a total of 208,320 yards textiles to be initially produced by the company, BHM Textile Manufacturing.
