THE POTENTIAL OF SOL Y VIENTO TO BE A DOT ACCREDITED RECREATIONAL TOURIST DESTINATION

Abstract:

This study determined the level of satisfaction of tourists who  visited Sol y Viento in terms of amenities, services, accessibility, activities and security; the resort’s level of compliance to the DOT checklist; and the potential of the place to be a DOT accredited recreational tourist destination. Using descriptive research method, the study involved 30 tourists who were purposely selected. The researchers utilized a 5-point scale to determine the tourists’ level of satisfaction. Findings revealed that Sol y Viento got the weighted mean score  of 4.06 which was highly satisfactory;  its level of compliance was excellent; and it had a potential to become a DOT accredited recreational tourist destination. Further, majority of the respondents were very satisfied with  the amenities, services, accessibility, activities and security. To pass the  DOT accreditation, Sol y Viento management should improve its facilities.
