Abstract:

This study designed a centralized air-conditioning system that would best fit the old gymnasium, Fra Angelico Hall, of the Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba as it will be more effective and efficient than using industrial fans. Results of the study pointed to the use of packaged type air-conditioning system as most suitable for large infrastructures such as gymnasium. This alternative design requires lesser energy consumption, lower unit and maintenance cost. It has the advantage that when one unit in the packaged type air-conditioned is broken, the other remaining unit could still continue its operation. The researchers suggested the renovation of the old gym including the broken windows and doors to have a closed space for an air-conditioned area.
