Abstract:

This study describes editing behaviors of students with metalinguistic awareness as the intervening variable. Results of a 25-item Grammaticality Judgment Test showed that the participants in the study had moderately low levels of linguistic awareness, as indicated by a mean score of 10.21. Quantitative and qualitative analyses of data reveal that these students did not perform effectively as peer editors for they engage in low-level processing of texts.
