Pedro A. Ramos | Aurea V. Badillo | Alicia F. Masubay

Abstract:

This study discusses the different processes involved in the development of an instructional guide for Grade 3 science teachers who use Tagalog as a medium of instruction. The researchers anchored the processes in the development of the instructional guide to Tyler’s Four Fundamental Questions on Curriculum Development. The processes are the following: setting the purpose, selecting the experiences, organizing the materials, and evaluating the materials.

In the development of the instructional guide, the researchers included the experiences and perspectives of the teachers in formulating the content of each unit. They based the guide on the experiences not only of the teachers but also of the pupils as observed by the teachers. One of the key features of the developed guide is the inclusion of technology-based strategies.
