Abstract:

The study was conducted to assess the professional preparedness of student teachers during their final teaching demonstration in the practice teaching course. The research respondents were the observers such as critic teachers, program chairs, and head teachers/principal of the student teachers in selected public and private schools in Baliwag, Bulacan. The findings revealed that the overall weighted average mean distribution on the student teachers’ performance as to professional preparedness was 4.56 or a descriptive rating of excellent as perceived by the observers during the final teaching demonstration. The null hypothesis was rejected and considered the means to be significantly different. Positive points were gathered as to the strengths of student teachers relative to their life as professionals. This proves that the student teachers are doing their best and are prepared to face the real-life situations of a teacher. Both teachers and incoming teachers are also evaluated for areas of improvement and for their ability to address their weaknesses and to become better teachers. This shows that student teachers from Baliuag University are open to any suggestion for improvement.
