Abstract:

This study proposed an earthquake evacuation route for the buildings of the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Allied Medicine, and Agriculture using shortest route algorithm. Specifically, the researcher presented the floor plans and weighted graph and applied the shortest route algorithm for the earthquake evacuation route for the three colleges. The researcher focused on how a person would leave a certain point in a building using the shortest direction considering only the distances from one node to another. The study is a descriptive and determined the indoor measurements of the buildings. It was deduced that floor diagrams of College of Arts and Sciences, College of Allied Medicine and College of Agriculture buildings can be represented by weighted graph where shortest path algorithm could be applied in search for the shortest route from a certain vertex to an exit until the entire route for the building is been constructed. In general, the study inferred that floor plans with its indoor measurements through the aid of Shortest Route Algorithm can be used in constructing a viable earthquake evacuation route plan.
