Abstract:

The main objective of the study is to measure the workplace happiness of the employees of the Human Resource Department (HRD) of the National Housing Authority (NHA) by presenting (1) the demographic profle of the respondents which includes age, gender, years of service and employment status, (2) the extent of the contribution of three antecedents, (well-being of the employees, work-life satisfaction and organizational commitment) to workplace happiness, and (3) the extent of the contribution of such antecedents to workplace happiness when the respondents are grouped into age, gender, years of service and employment status. A survey questionnaire, which was adapted from the Workplace PERMA-Profler (Kern, 2014), was the instrument used to gather data from thirty-one respondents, which was considered suffcient to represent the HRD employees of NHA. To analyze and interpret the data gathered from the respondents, the researchers utilized different statistical treatments such as percentage, weighted average and ANOVA. The results of the study show a signifcant number of respondents representing the Millennials. There are more female employees compared to male employees. Workplace happiness of the employees affects their well-being, worklife satisfaction, and organizational commitment to a great extent. There are no signifcant differences on how the work-life satisfaction, the well-being and the organizational commitment of the employees affect workplace happiness when grouped according to their age, gender, years of service and employment status. However, there is a signifcant difference in the organizational commitment of the employees when they are grouped according to their gender.
