Typhoon

Ariel R. Valeza

Discipline: Literature

Abstract:

Virac, my hometown in the island of Catanduanes, is perennially on the brink of extinction. Typhoon in the town are a-cent-a-piece that if one were to sell them on the streets, nobody would even bother taking a cursory look at them, for everyone would have his or her own typhoon to sell. And they would even share with you a typhoon anecdote or two to sweeten the deal. Signal No. 3s are abundant in my town that they have actually become my people's source of entertainment and recreation.
