School Heads’ Leardership Behavior and Teachers’ Organizational Commitment

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship of leadership behavior with the organizational commitment of teachers. It made used of the descriptive correlation method. The population comprised of the public elementary school teachers in Kabacan West District, kabacan, Cotabato. To ensure the validity of the results, complete enumeration sampling was used to survey the one hundred eighty (180) teachers of Kabacan West District. The Leadership Behavior questionnaire developed by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) was used to measure the level of leadership behavior while the Organizational Commitment questionnaire of the OECD 2009 was used to measure the level of teachers‟ commitment to the organization. The Pearson Product- momentCorrelation Coefficient was used to find out the relationship between the variables. The correlation result showed a positive significant relationship between the school heads‟ leadership behavior and the teachers‟ organizational commitment. This confirmed that leadership behaviors played an important role in enhancing teachers‟ organizational commitment.
