Abstract:

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is transforming the world of design and construct, leading to higher efficient, cost-effective and timely construction projects which is always a challenge to the Construction Industry. In this study, the researchers have attempted to assess the impact and effectiveness of BIM Technology through a descriptive quantitative type of research using the survey questionnaire as a data-gathering tool. The results showed that there is no significant difference in the perceptions of the small, medium, and large companies on the variables of project management in using BIM technology. The results furthered revealed that UAE Regulations, time management, cost management, scope management, and quality management are contributors in the utilization of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology among leading construction companies in UAE. Therefore, using BIM Technology has proven to be a solution to the construction industry for the smoother and better-planned construction process that will save time and money and reduces potential for error and conflicts. The involvement of the UAE government is the authority having jurisdiction played a major role in the implementation of BIM technology in the construction industry is deemed necessary. However, there is still a need to consider the best practices in other countries and adapt whichever is applicable in the region as part of mandatory BIM compliance.
