The Status of Jail Services as Perceived by the Inmates and Staff

Abstract:

Jail is a correctional institution and a place where a person(s) detain or rehabilitate taken in the lawful custody of the government (Labayo, 2008). The researchers conducted this study to determine the status of jail services as perceived by the inmates and staff of Agusan del Norte Provincial Jail. The study used a descriptive method of research because the researchers aim to attain the data with the accurate and meaningful description from the respondents regarding the status of Jail Services. Using a survey, the researchers will formulate a broad view of the respondents’ perceptions as to the services offered to them. The result shows that the Status of Jail Services as Perceived by the Inmates and Staff is rated strongly agree. The services for inmates are offered and regularly implemented, which constitute satisfactory to the offered services; these are according to the perception of the inmates and staff respondents in Agusan del Norte Provincial Jail. It was recommended that the Provincial Jail Administration must counter-part with the different schools to have enough supply, like books and other learning materials to help the inmates’ reformation and rehabilitation.
