Ginavee F. Dapula

Abstract:

In this competitive global environment, leadership traits, leadership styles, and employee job satisfaction play a significant role in any organization especially in educational institutions. This study explored how the school leaders’ leadership traits and leadership styles affect the job satisfaction of their followers in the nine (9) selected parochial schools under the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila Education System (RCAM-ES). The study utilized a qualitative exploratory research design having a total of 23 participants from the school principals, vice principals for academics, vice principals for student affairs, department heads, teaching and nonteaching personnel. Participants were chosen through purposive sampling technique. One-on-one interviews of participants were conducted. Results showed that there were five (5) leadership themes: being supportive, being a role model, competent, team-oriented, and authentic that were prominent among leaders in selected parochial schools in Manila.
