QSU VERMICOMPOST ENHANCES GROWTH AND YIELD OF NSIC Rc 298

Abstract:

This study revealed the effect of vermicompost and inorganic fertilizer on the growth and yield of NSIC Rc 298 rice as well as its return on investment. This was conducted on November 2013 to April 2014 at QSU Maddela experimental area. Five treatments were laid in Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications. The application of vermicompost in combination with inorganic fertilizer exhibited superior results in terms of the growth and yield of NSIC Rc 298. The combined application of 100% inorganic fertilizer and vermicompost at 10 bags ha-1 produced the highest number of productive tillers, highest number of filled grains per panicle, the maximum number grain weight per sampling area, highest grain weight per hill, superior weight of biomass per sampling area, highest grain weight per panicle, and seed yield per hectare which translated to preferable return of investment.
