PERCEPTIONS OF MOTHERS ABOUT DENGUE IMMUNIZATION

Eden N. Ragual | Kherovine T. Fangonon

Abstract:

This qualitative descriptive research probed mothers' perceptions on dengue immunization and dengvaxia vaccine issues. The study was conducted at the selected municipalities of Quirino. The inquiry was shared by the 12 participants utilizing open-ended questions. Thematic analysis was used in the presentation of the elicited data. Two themes emerged from the rigid analysis of the transcripts, namely: the positive outlook of mothers and the anxiety of mothers about immunization. Hence, it is essential to educate the people regarding the safety and success of all immunization included in the Expanded Program on Immunization and other available vaccines through mass education programs, awareness campaigns, and conferences to overcome parents' fear and confusion, especially mothers.
