Abstract:

The University of the East Student Portal is a gateway for online student information, lectures, discussions, resources and other services exclusive to UE students. It facilitates communication between professors and students beyond class hours and is available 24/7. A descriptive research was conducted which aimed to assess the usability of the University of the East Student Portal as perceived by one hundred-eighteen (118) Statistics students. Usability is the ease by which a student can navigate, locate information, and obtain knowledge from the UE student portal. For this study, usability is measured in terms of appearance, navigation, content, security, performance and efficiency, and interactivity. The researcher implemented the use of the UE Portal in teaching and tried to find out the students’ assessment of the portal’s level of usability. Findings revealed the students’ overall assessment on the high usability level of the Student Portal. The result implied that the high rating of the students on the usability of the UE Student Portal is the same across all the three colleges, and that college course is irrelevant in determining the student’s capability to properly utilize the UE portal.
