Environmental Practices of Housekeeping Department of City of Springs Resort and Hotel in N Villegas, Los Baños, Laguna

Abstract:

This study aimed to determine the environmental management practices of the housekeeping department specifically on energy conservation management, water conservation management, and waste management of Housekeeping Department of the City of Springs Resort and Hotel in Los Baños, Laguna.

The study used descriptive research design to describe the existing condition so that modification can be prescribed. Furthermore, through this method, the strengths and weaknesses of the environmental management practices of the Housekeeping Department of the establishment were determined for evaluation and recommendation purposes.

This study found out that the Housekeeping Department of City of Springs Hotel and Resort has good environmental practices, although some of its personnel lacked awareness in practicing standard environmental management of the hospitality industry.

The study recommended that the City of Springs Hotel and Resort should implement necessary energy management control systems and provide customer awareness in conserving energy. In addition, the waste conservation management should provide proper garbage containers while the water conservation management should provide management program for both customers and personnel.
