The Religious Tourism in Antipolo City from 1982 To 2008

Abstract:

This study was conducted to identify the changes in religious tourism of Antipolo City and determined the factors that caused such changes. It focused on the most significant changes in Antipolo City from 1982 to

2008. It made use of qualitative and quantitative method of research and conducted interview for its data gathering.

Different changes in Antipolo City were discussed in the study. These were the changes in tourist arrivals, programs and activities in the City Tourism Office of Antipolo as well as the religious programs and activities of Cathedral and its amenities, route of vehicles going in and out of Antipolo, and the number of establishments in the place.

Findings revealed that there were changes in religious tourism of Antipolo City. It was also found out that the factors that contributed a lot to these changes are historical, political, social, and economic factors. Furthermore, in general, the increase in the changes in religious tourism of Antipolo was due to the growth and development of the city and the effects of the people going in and out of the place who are visiting Antipolo Cathedral where the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage is stationed as well as the other tourists spots in the area.
