Decision Support System with Project Scheduling Visualization for Department of Public Works and Highways Laguna 2nd District Engineering Office

Abstract:

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is one of the three departments of the government undertaking major infrastructure projects. The DPWH is mandated to undertake: (1) the planning of infrastructure, such as national roads and bridges, flood control, water resources projects and other public works, and (2) the design, construction, and maintenance of national roads and bridges, and major flood control systems. The researchers conducted an interview to collect the required data and information from the client about the problems encountered in the past years of DPWH Laguna 2nd District Engineering Office. The office used one book for Detailed Unit Price Analysis (DUPA) and validates all computations and estimate. In this study, it was found that the proposed system was able to help DPWH lessen the time needed in encoding and approval of project plans. It could also replicate and improve the outputs and information needed by the DPWH. Thus, the researchers recommended that the features such as Android Application and SMS notification must be considered by the future researchers to improve the current systems’ capabilities.
