HR Competencies and Satisfaction on the major courses of Selected Graduating HRDM Students from Selected Schools in Calamba City, Laguna

Abstract:

This study aimed to find out the level of HR Competencies and Satisfaction on the major courses of the graduating HRDM students in three institutions in Calamba City, Laguna. The researchers used a survey questionnaire, which was adapted from the Management Development Questionnaire (MDQ) to measure expected competencies of an effective HR Practitioner. Titan HR (2011) categorized MDQ in five global or meta- management competencies: Managing Change; Planning and Organizing; Interpersonal Skills; Result Orientation; and Leadership. In terms of Managing Change in general assessment, School B had the highest mean, followed by School A, and school C. In terms of Planning and Organizing, School B had the highest mean, followed by School C and School A. In terms of Interpersonal Skills, the highest mean came from School B, followed by School A, and School C. In terms of Result Orientation School B had the highest mean, followed by School A and School C. In terms of Leadership, School B had the highest mean, followed by School A and School C In terms of Professional Core, all responding schools were interpreted as highly satisfied in their general assessment. In terms of Business Awareness, all responding schools were also interpreted in their general assessment as highly satisfied. Meanwhile, in Practicum or Work Integrated Learning, only School A and School B had highly satisfied ratings in their general assessment, and School C only received a “satisfied” interpretation in their general assessment. HRDM students of the three schools appreciate their program and in general can be interpreted as satisfied with their stay in their respective schools. However, there are HR competencies that need to be improved. Also, there is an established relationship between HRDM Satisfaction on the major courses and acquired HR Competencies of the respondents.
