Work Competencies and Work Challenges of Selected Millennial HR Managers in Metro Manila

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to find out the work competencies and work challenges of selected millennial HR managers in Metro Manila. It also aimed to determine their competencies and how they cope up with the challenges that they experience. The researchers interviewed 6 millennial HR managers based in different parts of Metro Manila. The researchers used qualitative method. They conducted an unstructured one on one interview with the participants and use their work challenges and work competencies to find out how they cope up to the challenges they experienced. To analyze the data, thematic analysis was used to gain insight and knowledge from the data gathered. It was used to gather all the respondents’ work competencies and work challenges and how they cope up with these. The researchers found that most of the challenges that the participants stated include problems related to age gaps in the organization, the lack of experience of millennial HR Managers, and the difficulty of building credibility. It was also found that participants cope with the challenges by being flexible, accepting the challenges positively, and continuously improving themselves. Finally, the work competencies that were found significant among the participants include being a talent manager, a credible activist, a business ally, a strategy architect and a culture change steward.
