Production and Marketing of Ergonomically Designed Paint Brush using Nylon Plastic Wire Tie Clip

Abstract:

The study examined the feasibility of the production and marketing of ergonomically designed paint brush using nylon wire tie clip. Previous research showed that there is an underlying risk of having Musculoskeletal Disorder (MSD), specifically Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), in painting because the work involves repetitive motions. To address the problem, the researchers produced an ergonomically designed paint brush to lessen the risk of having MSDs. The product is made of 70% Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) and 30% virgin resin. It was tested and compared to an ordinary paint brush, and results revealed that the researchers’ product was lighter and kept the neutral posture of the hand during painting. In the financial aspect, the project would need a capital investment of Php 6,500,000. The researchers found that for every Php 1.00 invested, there will be a Php 1.22 return. An initial market share of 25.60% in the first year of operation was determined. This percentage will steadily increase up to 31.25% on the fifth year of operation. Consequently, RPM Manufacturing Company would recover its investment capital back in 1 year and 6 months.
