Abstract:

This project feasibility study aimed to reduce wastes produced by KJ Springs and Plastics Technology and convert the wastes into an ergonomically-designed energy saving laptop case using ABS Resin sourced from Shinwonhan Manufacturing Company. It was designed to protect the laptop from any impact and to reduce fatigue especially eye strain while using the laptop. Manual surveys and online surveys involving the laptop users and the retailers in Calamba City were conducted to determine the demand and market of the product. The researchers also used 4Ps to help the product become well known to the public and to be accessible to suppliers. To establish the project, the estimated cost, source of investment, payback period, and return of investment by considering the machines and equipment used, the utilities, the HaCo Pad assessment process flow chart, number of productive days, production volume, assembly balancing and unit price and mark-up were analyzed. The organizational structure was formed, and the outline of the position and the benefits or incentives of the employees was also identified for easy modification. This project can eventually help the government and the local barangay to lessen the unemployment rate and contribute to the increase in development through taxes. Future studies may improve the quality of the product by using a kind of plastic that has greater flexibility, reliability, strength, and durability than the currently used plastic material. Further tests may be done to ensure the product’s performance.
