Abstract:

In the global situation, most of the jobs require workers to stand for at least 75% of their work schedule. Prolonged standing at work has a high risk of causing long term injuries. Due to this, ergonomic spandex socks with memory foam would be a great intervention to help workers avoid such injuries. Hence, the production of ergonomic spandex socks with memory foam will not only help workers in the prevention of health hazard, but it will also help the environment by using recycled polyurethane in making the spandex and memory needed in the product. Currently, 30% of the polyurethane used by the companies are being scrapped, and thus using polyurethane as a main component of the product is favorable since it can reduce the amount of industrial waste generated daily. The study showed that there is profitability assurance in the project as it would cater to the needs of the unsatisfied demand for ergonomic spandex socks with a market share of 73.42% for the first year of the business. Also, the project will cost Php 16,270,074.32. It is expected to recover the investment after 1.84 years at 89.68%. As a recommendation, the researchers encouraged future researchers to further analyze the use of polyurethane in fabrics and to continue this study for possible improvement and business expansion.
