Design and Fabrication of Semi-Automated Young Coconut Meat and Juice Collector

Vladimir M. Jarumayan | Mikael Rey B. Del Moro | Ram Zedrik L. Montano

Abstract:

This project aimed to minimize the amount of labor and length of time in collecting the meat and juice of the young coconut. The researchers proposed a machine that has a blade and a scraper. The blade will divide the young coconut in half, then it will manually be placed in a scraper to scrape off the meat. This prototype also includes a spike that will pierce through the shell of the young coconut to let its juice flow through a hose down to the storage. The blade will be driven by a hydraulic jack. The hydraulic jack’s upward force will enable the blade to divide the young coconut. The up and down motion of the lever of the hydraulic jack is driven by a crankshaft. It converts the rotating motion of the motor to an up and down motion that will enable the hydraulic jack’s ram to push the blade. This project will be beneficial to farmers and entrepreneurs.
