Design and Installation of Pico Hydro Power in Sitio Locomotive

Abstract:

The increasing demand for electricity gave rise to the idea of using renewable energy as an alternative reliable resource. For instance, the flow of fresh water from lakes, streams and rivers can be used to produce hydroelectric power. This research aimed to generate electricity through Pico Hydro Power that will serve as a source of energy for the street lighting of Sitio Locomotive in Brgy. Canlubang. The said community has no supply of electricity and depends only on solar energy. The water stream from Matang Tubig falls has a sufficient flow that can be used to generate electricity. Pico Hydro Power will have the water from the falls enter the nozzle, pass through the guide vane, and hit the turbine. As the turbines spin, mechanical energy will be produced, and it will be converted to electrical energy by the generator that is connected to the turbine. The electrical energy will be stored in the battery. A wire that connects the battery and the streetlight will be installed.
