The Local Cuisines in Lipa City, Batangas: The Hub of Food Tourism

Abstract:

The study determined the characteristics of the local cuisines of Lipa City, Batangas. Using a descriptive research design with pure qualitative approach, the researchers conducted interviews with locals, restaurant owners, and the tourism officer of Lipa City, Batangas. They identified the famous local cuisines through the best-selling dish that each restaurant offers. Lomi, Gotong Batangas, Bulalo, Chami and Guisado are the famous local cuisines of Lipa City, Batangas. Each restaurant has its own method of cooking that attracts the tourists when it comes to choosing the local dishes that will satisfy them. Moreover, the culinary itinerary that the researchers made can help in the development of the food tourism of Lipa City, Batangas. Overall, the researchers recommended that the tourism office of Lipa City, Batangas should pursue their plan of giving a tour to visitors so that they could taste the different local cuisines and in turn, promote the city’s food tourism. It would be more beneficial if the Tourism Office will conduct a seminar for the locals to inform them about Lipa City’s food tourism.
