Abstract:

In this paper, I present Martha Nussbaum’s ideas on the capability approach, an approach which is associated with Nobel laureate economist Amartya K. Sen. This paper critically examines Nussbaum’s list of Central Capabilities and how this list can be the basis of government public policy and constitutional guarantees, in recognition of the right of every person to live a dignified and meaningful life.
