CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND INSTRUCTIONAL RELATIONSHIP OF TEACHERS IN EAST DISTRICT, BANSALAN, DAVAO DEL SUR

Abstract:

The school head of Mabuhay Elementary School in Mabuhay, Bansalan, Davao del Sur, emphasized the importance of teachers’ ability and competence to improve performance among learners with the thrust to continuous education and acquisition of professional knowledge not only on the subject matter but also on pedagogy. Skills and techniques need to be developed to be more effective in the profession of moulding the minds of students. This study was conducted to determine the level of perception among teachers on continuing professional development and their relational effectiveness on selected indicators of performance. The study utilized a descriptive correlational method of research with a validated survey questionnaire as the research instrument. There are a total of 50 teachers and administrators in Mabuhay Elementary School utilizing the universal sampling technique. The statistical tools used for the analysis of data were simple percentage, average weighted mean and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (Pearson r). The findings revealed that there was a high level of perception among teachers on continuing professional development and an effective level of teachers’ relational effectiveness. Furthermore, the findings revealed that there was a significant relationship between continuing professional development and teachers’ relational effectiveness.
