Abstract:

Human Resource Management (HRM) provides universities competitive advantage that is essential in retaining effective faculty and personnel to perform everyday tasks. This paper assesses the Human Resource (HR) practices and the implementation of Human Resources Management (HRM) through Information Technology (IT) in the University of Northern Philippines (UNP). A statistical descriptive approach was used to evaluate major factors that affect the acceptability of managing human resources as well as the role of tools provided in the HR in achieving quality management experience for the employees. Results of the study revealed that the HR experts and professionals are only using basic IT tools to perform HR tasks. Furthermore, that faculty is more skeptical about the implementation of information systems than the Administrative employees. Investigations also highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of the current implementation. In conclusion, development or procurement of HRIS, appropriate policy suggestions, and change management were suggested for the efficient utilization of HRM in providing quality administrative services for employees.
