Abstract:

This study examined the mathematics performance of working and non-working students at Cotabato State University – College of Teacher Education for the academic year 2023- 2024. Also, it aimed to propose a mathematics intervention designed for working students. Utilizing a quantitative research design through comparative analysis with a total of sixty mathematics majors as respondents of the study. An independent t-test was employed to ascertain whether a significant difference exists in mathematics achievement between the two groups. The results indicated that both working and non-working students achieved above-average performance in their first-year mathematics courses. The mean performance for working and non-working students was 1.74 and 1.78, respectively. Despite a minor variation in performance, the independent t-test findings revealed no significant difference between the two groups. The analysis concludes that students can achieve high marks in mathematics regardless of their employment status, working or not. Moreover, it particularly recommends working students to optimize their utilization of online mathematical resources and to implement effective time management practices.
