Supreme Student Government Organizational Climate and Empowerment Level of High School Student-Leaders

Renante Tabigo-on

Discipline: social policy

Abstract:

The Supreme Student Government (SSG) plays a vital role in representing student voices and interests in schools. This descriptive research examined the organizational climate of SSGs in a district under the Division of Koronadal and its relationship with student-leader empowerment. Using statistical tools such as frequency count, weighted mean, and Pearson’s r, the study revealed that the SSGs operate in an enlightened organizational climate and that studentleaders exhibit a high level of empowerment. A strong, positive correlation between the organizational climate and empowerment was also established. However, challenges were identified, including balancing leadership and academic responsibilities, decreasing number opting to be officers, and limited funding for programs. Despite these issues, the findings highlight that a positive organizational climate contributes significantly to empowering studentleaders. The study recommends that schools sustain and strengthen this climate by offering continuous leadership training, promoting mentorship, and conducting regular evaluations. Implementing support mechanisms will help student-leaders thrive and maximize their contributions to the school and community.
