Pagtagpo at Paglayo: Pagsusuri sa HistorikalPantaseryeng Maria Clara at Ibarra Gamit Bilang Lente ang Teorya ng Akomodasyon ni Howard Giles

Abstract:

Ang pag-aaral na ito ay naglalayong suriin ang dinamiko ng komunikasyon sa historikal-pantaseryeng Maria Clara at Ibarra gamit bilang lente ang Communication Accommodation Theory ni Howard Giles na nakatuon sa dalawang pangunahing estratehiya: ang convergence (pagtagpo); at divergence (paglayo). Sa pamamagitan ng pagsusuri sa nilalaman at diskurso sa 91 na piling eksena mula sa kabuuang 105 na episodyo ng serye, tinukoy ng mananaliksik kung paano iniaangkop ng mga tauhan ang kanilang komunikasyon batay sa wika, layunin, at identidad ng kausap. Natukoy sa pag-aaral na mas nangingibabaw ang paggamit ng estratehiyang paglayo (58 na eksena) kaysa sa pagtagpo (33 na eksena). Lumitaw ding nangyayari ang cognitive motives upang linawin o pahirapin ang ugnayan, habang ang affective motives ay nangyayari sa mga eksenang naghahangad ng pakikipagkaisa o emosyonal na koneksyon. Ipinakikita ng resulta na ang Maria Clara at Ibarra ay hindi lamang representasyon ng kasaysayan, kundi espasyo kung saan ang wika ay ginagamit upang itaguyod, igiit, o isantabi ang identidad at pananaw. Ang pag-aaral ay nag-aambag sa larangan ng sosyolinggwistika sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay-diin sa papel ng komunikasyon sa midya bilang salamin ng ugnayang panlipunan.
