Abstract:

This study examined the student leadership development programs of a private higher education institution in the Philippines across three critical periods: before, during, and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing the essential role of leadership programs in promoting students’ holistic development, the study adopted an evaluative mixed-methods research design to assess program relevance, effectiveness, and adaptability. Quantitative data were gathered through structured surveys administered to student leaders, while qualitative data were obtained through interviews and document analysis to provide contextual depth to the findings. Results revealed that student leaders perceived the existing leadership development programs as highly relevant and instrumental in enhancing their leadership skills, self-awareness, and engagement. However, variations in program delivery and participation across the three periods highlighted areas for improvement, particularly in ensuring sustainability, inclusivity, and responsiveness to emerging challenges. Based on the findings, the study recommends strengthening the current student leadership development framework to enhance its overall impact and alignment with post-pandemic higher education needs.
