Abstract:

In the digital era, increased access to online pornography has raised concerns regarding its influence on adolescent development, particularly among vulnerable groups such as adolescent mothers. Grounded in Sensation Seeking Theory, this study investigates the relationship between sensation-seeking behavior and pornography consumption, and how these factors may shape adolescents’ perceptions of sexuality and risk-taking behaviors. A quantitative descriptive design was employed involving 138 adolescent mothers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using standardized instruments, namely the Sexual Sensation Seeking Behavior Scale and the Pornography Consumption Inventory and analyzed using descriptive statistics and correlation analyses. Findings revealed that both sensation-seeking behavior and pornography consumption were generally low among respondents. However, a significant positive correlation was identified, indicating that higher sensation-seeking tendencies are associated with increased pornography consumption. Additionally, age was negatively correlated with pornography use, suggesting a decline in consumption over time. The study highlights the nuanced relationship between psychological traits and media exposure among adolescent mothers. These findings emphasize the importance of comprehensive sexual education, mental health support, and media literacy programs to mitigate potential risks and promote informed, healthy decision-making among adolescents.
