Abstract:
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), which is caused by the highly contagious severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has tallied over 43,500,000 cases and taken over 1,160,000 lives worldwide (World Health Organization, 2020). Despite its having been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), COVID-19 has continued to spread and has infected at least 20 million individu-als, reaching a death toll of over half a million. In the Philippines alone, there are above 360,000 cases and 7,000 deaths, which are second in Southeast Asia be-hind Indonesia. Continuous deaths due to COVID-19 are coupled with drug unavailability, thereby reflecting the need for drug discovery.
