Transport box and method of packaging for carabao mango (Mangifera indica Linn)

Frenz Rian G. Gal

Discipline: Agriculture

Abstract:

This research and development study designed, fabricated, and evaluated a transport box and packaging method for carabao mangoes. Results revealed that the developed box failed the burst test requirements of National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) ITEM 222 and Philippine National Standards vibration test standards. However, it preserved mango quality during transport and addressed limitations of existing designs, such as weight capacity and stacking. The new box improved compliance with food safety and labeling requirements in the Philippines, adding value to mango packaging. This study was an added value in providing appropriate mango packaging for carabao mangoes.
