Abstract:

Adaptive leadership was considered an important leadership that allowed leaders to respond successfully to change, uncertainty, and organizational issues. Resilience and problem-solving abilities were viewed as crucial skills that enhance leadership effectiveness in educational settings. This research explored the adaptive leadership methods, resilience, and problem-solving abilities of student leaders at Quirino State University – Diffun Campus during the Academic Year 2025–2026. The study sought to assess the degree of adaptive leadership practices among student leaders and investigate the important relationship between resilience, problem-solving abilities, and adaptive leadership practices. The research employed a quantitative descriptive-correlational design. A total of 138 elected student representatives from the Student Government, College Student Councils, and Recognized Student Organizations took part in the study using stratified random sampling. Data were collected through a structured survey questionnaire grounded in the Adaptive Leadership Theory, the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale, and the Social Problem-Solving Theory. Statistical methods like mean, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient (Pearson r), and regression analysis were employed in examining the data. The results showed that the participants extensively practiced adaptive leadership regarding emotional intelligence, organizational fairness, growth, and character. The participants exhibited significant resilience in areas such as adaptability, perseverance, emotional control, and optimism, in addition to robust problem-solving abilities in recognizing problems, formulating solutions, making decisions, and implementing and assessing those solutions. Moreover, the findings indicated that resilience and problem-solving abilities had notable positive correlations with adaptive leadership behaviors in student leaders. The results reinforce earlier research highlighting that leaders who are emotionally intelligent, resilient, and adaptable are better equipped to handle organizational challenges and respond efficiently to changes.
