Abstract:

The study investigates the effectiveness of visual arts as an intervention in alleviating symptoms of depression and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among adolescents with history of abuse. Quasi-experimental and qualitative methodologies were used. Participants were selected from five shelters within Metro Manila on the depression and PTSD measures. They were assigned to either the visual arts group or the control group. The visual arts group went through eight sessions of art works with specific themes and media.
