Abstract:

The proposed microwave link design between Metropolis Extension Office (Auxiliary Business Center) and Alabang Main Branch (Buiness Center) would provide larger capacity for data and voice transmission that would greatly help these centers in their operations. In addition, the leasing of extra E1s of the design would provide additional revenues for the company.

The design features a path length of 2.4 km. The frequency utilized for the design is the 15 GHZ band with a channel capacity of 21E1. Through the determination of path losses and other deteriorating factors, the system was prepared for any possible occurrence in its operation. The study was able to perform all the necessary computations for the design to satisfy the link requirements as well as the system reliability of 99.999% specified by the school and the company.

The study also determined the economic computations of the link which includes the computation of ROR (rate of return) of the overall investment. The project was proven to be feasible having a payback period of two years and four months with a rate of return of 43.78%.
