The Academic Faculty and the Departments

Salvador Roxas Gonzales

Abstract:

The nature of an institution of higher learning, a college or university, is very much misunderstood in the Philippines. Consequently, the academic faculty and the departments in many institutions are given minor roles in setting the right standards and goals of education. The result is a terrible mangling of higher education in this country, on the main produced by business-minded administrators who posses all the status symbol and the power but who have rather dim views of education.
