The Idiot in the Box: a Closer Look at Philippine Television Today

Abstract:

A handful of TV critics are on the verge of despair. What has happened to Philippine television? Whereas the cinema has succeeded in showing efforts at improvement in terms of technical quality and choice of materials, TV persists in its determined decline. Whereas local radio has impressively promoted the works of native songwriters and performers, TV has yet to create an impressive personality or project without having to borrow star material from her sister media.
