PBSP's Experiences in the Use of Group/Community Building as a Strategy of Development

Abstract:

This book can best be thought of as a significant document in the involvement of the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), an organization of socially concerned Filipino businessmen, in the grassroots' plight It illustrates the concretization of PBSP's commitment to "the improvement of quality of life of low-income communities as an expression of their corporate social responsibility" (PBSP Guidelines, 1979).

The book in reality is a research report on "Consolidation Study on Community Building Projects" initiated by PBSP through its Research and Development Unit. The greater bulk of the book's contents mainly present the study’s findings, implications of the results, and recommendations. Spearheaded by Ms. Dionela, the study seeks to describe PBSP experiences in developing and funding projects which employed community-building as a major strategy in assisting low-income communities.
