Abstract:

The theme running through the work is the importance of a theory or a theoretical framework in the design of any research. There are various chapters on current theories in sociology, notably Social Systems Theory and its variation, which focuses on functionalism, Middle-Range Theory, the other dominant model, Dialectical Theory, and its Post-Marxist version, Conflict Theory. In addition, there are separate chapters on Exchange Theory, Human Ecology Theory, and a Theory of Mass Society. The monograph ends with a short chapter on social science and national development.
