Abstract:

To date, Philippine history continues to be written with the imprint of Western, oftentimes colonial, perspectives. To cite a case in point, the periodic stages of our history remain subdivided by colonial periods. And, despite the efforts of more local scholars who adopt, or shift to, new intellectual perspectives, to a great extent, the writing of our history still perpetuates the partisan prejudices of dominant ruling classes and interests.
